Résumé
The authors, a professor of public law and legal philosophy at the Humboldt University of Berlin, born in 1969, and a doctoral assistant, are interested in the problem of democracy in the European Union and its preservation (Sicherung ), or, more precisely, its “securing”. Overall, this book, sometimes a little difficult to read, represents a long commentary on Articles 2 and 7 of the Treaty on the Union in view of the current crises. While calling for safer ways to preserve and develop democracy within the EU, it still has confidence in democracy, that is to say in the will of the people, and in the current institutional framework that must be brought closer to the people in order to overcome these crises.
Les auteurs, un professeur de droit public et de philosophie du droit à l'université Humboldt de Berlin, né en 1969, et une doctorante-assistante, s'intéressent au problème de la démocratie dans l'Union européenne et de sa sauvegarde (Sicherung), ou, plus exactement, de sa « sécurisation ». Au total ce livre d'une lecture parfois un peu ardue représente un long commentaire des articles 2 et 7 du traité sur l'Union au vu des crises actuelles. Tout en réclamant des moyens plus sûrs de préserver et de développer la démocratie au sein de l'UE, il fait tout de même confiance à la démocratie, c'est-à-dire à la volonté des peuples, et au cadre institutionnel actuel, qu'il faut rapprocher des peuples, pour surmonter ces crises.
