La notion de 'migration' dans l'aire gbaya

Abstract : After presenting the historic situation of the Gbayas throughout the second half of the 19th century and the recent archaeological data concerning this North-West region of Central African Republic, the author brings up the elements that are characteristic to the Gbaya 'Bodoe society. They are a hunter-gatherer-farmer people living in a fertile land with abundant game. The Gbaya 'Bodoe are organized into small village communities. They have never had traditional chiefs nor do they have markets and they do not tell historic tales. However, traditionally, they are a very mobile people, feature that the author illustrates by following the Ndongué villagers' travels from 1810 until today, explaining the motivations for each person. Finally, the author lists the linguistic terms and expressions referring to this mobility.
